/ January 12, 2015Thank you for the suggestions! So terribly sorry, but I will not use one. The reason is that reading these fabulous suggestions helped me think of one that I greatly think should be addressed.
“Should people be truly affected by hurtful comments on social media?” Being a seventh grader, I, admittedly, am actively participating in social media. This topic definitely rung a bell for me. Tbh, I didn’t even think of this idea until I read through your suggestions! So, thank you. 🙂

/ January 12, 2015The topic ideas are great and many to chose from. Would you say this list is intended for more junior high level and up? Some of the topics do not seem not age appropriate for elementary school level? I have a 5th grader who’s 10 years old and just wondering if she needs to persaude the reader on topics she knows norhing about?

alecia norman
/ September 30, 2014#45.Should celebrities who break the law face stricter penalties?
my answer is: yes!
the reason I say this is because I understand they are famous and they have all the money and fancy cars and afford almost everything in the world (almost). they are still humans and they should still obey the law I mean what makes them better than us then there money? and once there in jail or what ever the judge should say your money isn’t an option and then they can feel what most of all feel, because we do the crime we pay the time not by money but by accepting our fate in life and so should they
hannah
/ October 12, 2014when you know how to use their, there, and they’re appropriately tell me that the rich and famous need to do more time than the rest of us. That made absolutely zero sense. So they have more money? So what? Poor or rich we should all experience the same penalties. Government punishment is based on the crime someone commits. Not their social status, and that’s the logical way for things to work.
alecia norman
/ September 30, 2014#9. should 13 years old be allowed to vote?
my answer is: NO!!!
because of many reasons…. one there still sort of like kids if you want to say there brains ant fully developed enough to make a big decision for our country. another one is they still like to pretend there’s like girly germs and they talk about silly things like monsters and zombies they ant ready just quite yet. I have a thirteen year old sister and a fourteen year old brother and they act more like ten year olds then there own age. so knowing by hand what they are like no I believe the are to young and not ready for this big decision yet.
and that’s why I believe.
cookie monster
/ January 12, 2015well maybe some more mature children(with permission) can vote.
anonymous
/ January 29, 2015I would like to say that I am a 13 year old boy and that I agree with your comment, we should not be allowed to vote, though I (and most likely everyone else) would like it if you were use proper spelling when talking about someones lowered intelligence. There is something called auto-correct that helps very often. (other than when texting)
Ethan
/ September 24, 2014To whomever it might concern:
On number 75 it says “should teens over the age of 13 be allowed into R rated movies?”
I wondered if it was intended to say “should teens UNDER the age of thirteen be allowed into R rated movies. I wasn’t sure if that was intentional or not. Correct me if I’m wrong. Other than that this list was great!
Mr. Morton
/ September 25, 2014Well, I actually meant over the age. As in, should kids that are 13 or older be allowed to see R rated movies. You could go the other way too of course.
Lucy Starbuck

/ June 25, 2014Its a wonderful list but please what is the meaning of the term speech
Mr. Morton
/ July 9, 2014A speech is writing that is meant to be delivered orally. That is to say, the speaker is intended to read the material out loud to an audience.

In other words: a persuasive essay.
MissMadam
/ June 16, 2014Persuasive means to change someones mind. If someone thinks that age limit of licence should be lowered, you would give a pesuasive comment/writing using strong points to change their mind about it being lowered.

/ April 28, 2014I want to do a persuasive paper about whether or not teachers should be allowed to use cell phones in classes. I strongly disagree with it but my English teacher refuses to let me use that topic. Now I don’t know what to do. She has shot every topic I have recommended down, and if I don’t get at least a C in this class I don’t graduate this year. I am a senior in high school and English is my favorite class I love to write but lately I don’t know what to do. I really need help with this subject does anyone have any useful tips for me? I appreciate your time for writing this list Mr. Morton. It was very helpful.
Mr. Morton
/ April 29, 2014Seems like your teacher is a bit prohibitive
when it comes to topic choices.
I would work with him or her directly on finding an
appropriate topic.
