All Reading Worksheets

I spent much of my time as an educator creating materials to effectively target essential reading skills. I spent many more years compiling and posting these materials to this website.

Here is a list of all the worksheet pages on this website. These materials are aligned to Common Core State Standards when possible, and I have included the standards on the bottom of each page to help you with your lesson planning. Being a teacher is one of the hardest jobs in the world, but it is also one of the most necessary. I hope that these materials help make your job a little bit easier and allow you to give more of your limited time and attention to your students.

    Mr Morton,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You truly exemplify what “educating” is, freely sharing knowledge with others so we can in turn teach/share . If you are no longer in the classroom, please know that you continue to influence what is being taught in classrooms today.
    Sincerely,
    A Grateful 4th Grade Teacher

Thank you for allowing me time with my family. I have worked to create my own templates to cover multiple objectives with any given text. I appreciate that you include texts. More templates could be valuable to teachers who want or need to use particular texts. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review or comment, but you deserves my thanks.

Thank you so much for this wonderful and amazing website. Although I teach at a high school, a lot of these assignments will work very well with our low level and struggling readings. Plus, I teach an adult education course for those seeking their GED. These worksheets are perfect! Oh my! What a relief. You are a blessing!

Thank you so much for sharing your hard work. This site truly is invaluable. I have been teaching social studies for over 25 years, and this site does an amazing job of teaching the necessary reading skills to navigate through informational text! Have you considered creating lessons focused on argumentative writing (vs persuasive)? Thanks!

This is the best resource out there for language arts teachers and just keeps getting better! I love love LOVE that you give us multiple level worksheets to help differentiate. Additionally, love that there are keys so we don’t have to ‘do’ every worksheet ourselves to make a key. You have given me back tons of time in my life and for that, I am eternally grateful!

You have done an amazing job this past summer adding to your resources! I can only imagine the time you have spent on this and it is well appreciated. This school year has been fantastic. On notetaking days, students begin with note taking and an instructional piece and then launch into your practice pieces. The practice pieces lend themselves very well to Kagan Structures. It has been fun to walk around the classroom and listen to them discussing their thoughts and responses. Thank you. Do you have some sheets on mood, I did not see any. You may want to take a look at Kathie Nunley’s layered curriculum for your novel units. Teachers around the country have contributed to this resource. There are some great ideas there too that you may be able to tweak into what you want.

    • Thank you so much for your praise and thoughtful feedback. I’d love to make some mood worksheets, but I’m focused heavily on some backend stuff right now that will help people find what they are looking for by grade level and CCSS standard. Thanks again for the suggestions and best wishes!

I need to differentiate for social studies and would love to see some informational text worksheets on your site. I’m also looking for a way to develop literature circles for my chapters in my social studies books (non fiction informational texts).

    • I’m working on more informational texts now. I’m going to do a big functional passages / informational writing overhaul that should be complete by the holidays. It should be pretty awesome. Then perhaps social studies, as I did teach it for a couple of years and I have some materials piled up. Thank you for the feedback.
