Hi, I am primary school trained teacher but am currently supporting older pupils with additional support needs to access the subject of English. I have found this site excellent in updating my figurative language knowledge [ it’s been such a long time since I’ve done more than alliteration, similes and metaphors]. The activities are good and short enough for pupils with limited concentration. I can also use them in interactive ways with pupils to promote learning. Thankyou very much. Johnny

Oh my gosh this site is PERFECT for telespeech therapy because you’ve put it in an interactive (web based) formate AND the quality of the materials is excellent and very relevant to older kids and those with high level autism. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!

My English teacher suggested me your website to improve my English Literature level. I’m an ESL student. I highly recommend this website to all ESL students to improve their reasoning and critical thinking skills. Also this site can help migrants living in English speaking countries to improve their knowledge of English language

I love this site, especially the online test, but how can I get from the story to the questions? I have been trying to figure this out for days. Thank you in advance for your help.

    • Oh, you have to navigate using your browser tabs. Go back and forth between the windows by scrolling up, which should reveal your open tabs. Choose between the tabs by pressing on them. I’m going to develop a better way to do it, but that might not be ready until next year sometime. Best wishes!

    Hi Mr Morton
I am writing a course for approaching underachieving boys and I believe multiple choice comprehension is one of the best ways to get them thinking and avoiding ‘writing reluctance’. Your material is excellent and I would like to include an example and place a link to your site in my material. Would you mind?

    • That’s fantastic.
I look forward to your work.

To anyone else reading this, I believe in an open web.
I love and appreciate your links.

I absolutely love this site and use many resources. Just a suggestion…I love the Point of View Comic Strip project. I’m just wondering if you could take out the part about the laxatives at the end of the student sample if possible?

I noticed that my students can email their test results to me on the main idea test but only have an option to print on the adjectives/adverbs test. Their laptops do not allow them to print. I was unable to figure out a way to copy/paste the results into an email. Any suggestions? Do you have any plans on making all test results email-able in the future?

    Thanks!

I cannot begin to tell you how valuable your site has been to me this past year. This is my 27th year in education, but only my second year at the middle school level. Your resources are absolutely wonderful and I greatly appreciate your willingness to make them available to others free of charge. The words “thank you” do not seem to convey the gratitude I feel, but they will have to do. 🙂

    • Thank you so much for saying so. I’m happy to hear it.

You know, I have paper versions of all of those activities, but they are scattered around the site in their respective sections. I am currently working on building a database of the material on this site. This will allow people to find things way easier, filtering by grade level, skill, and such. It’s going to be great. I should have it up and running by December. Best wishes!
