Of course, I moderate and read all comments, so that might be the easiest way to get at me, but if you’ve got something private to say…

/ September 15, 2023Sir, I love your site and I’ve gone to this well a thousand times. If I might suggest, my ELL kids need more white space within paragraphs (more room for annotation and paraphrasing) and the spacing is a bit narrow and compact (ELLs get overwhelmed easily). By providing material for ELLs in particular, you would be reaching a huge population of educators like myself.
Mr. Morton
/ October 26, 2023I wish there were an easy way for me to properly format these for you, but there is not. I recommend that you download the RTF files and format them as you think is appropriate. Best wishes!

/ April 15, 2021I just wanted to say that when using a couple of the inferencing passages with my students, I was shocked at some of the content deemed ok for students in 4th grade and up. Maybe I am being oversensitive, but a couple of the passages seem over the top for students that age, especially about the mom saying “I’m going to kill you,” however it is obviously meant, as well as some other subtext in other passage I felt were a little to intense to suggest use for that age. I very well take responsibility for not reading everything comprehensively before handing the papers to my students, but we have a lot to prepare for our remote learning days, and sometimes I do not have time to read every single page. Just wanted to voice my concern. Thank you for your time.
Mr. Morton
/ May 28, 2021I try my best to make my content accessible to everyone. In the event that you find the content disagreeable, you are permitted to edit it prior to sharing it with students. Distributing the content without reviewing it is a violation of the terms of use of this site (See the bolded sub-section 2-F).
You are required to review all the content thoroughly before you use it with students. It is solely your responsibility.

/ October 2, 2020Question- so I added to my Google Classroom. How do I pull the grades for the students?
Mr. Morton
/ December 7, 2020Students have to manually submit their grades/scores to you. Then you have to enter the grades. I hope that Google will open up their platform and allow me to do more with it soon, but student data is pretty sensitive at this time.

/ August 24, 2020I really love this site. It provides multiple levels of practice and several different ways of providing the lessons. I know that you are currently linked to Google Classroom, but are you also linked to Clever or Canvas? Our school division changed LMs for the pandemic and I am trying to link to some tried and true sites like EReading.
Mr. Morton
/ August 24, 2020I’m afraid that I am not linked to any other services. Maybe I should look into it…
Karmon D. Weidlich
/ September 15, 2020If you do, Could you please post about it. I have used this site for years and my students love it. I just need a way to pull reports and grades for the assignments since they are not linking into Canvas.

I really appreciate your work. Good resources to teach children.
The old website is actually good compared to the new website.
By the way, I am unable to see the answers. The website does not show up any answers when I click on the icon.

/ July 17, 2019Dear Mr.Morton,
I just cannot thank you enough for all the hard work you’ve put in to make it easier for us teachers.
Mr. Morton, I am actually a ESL teacher in Pakistan, and I have to teach multiple levels in a day. While you have made a very accessible website , I would like to request can you make whole packs at the end of the page? Like one PDF file that has all the worksheets in one place.
Sometimes I have to find worksheets for different classes or skills and at times I feel lost between so many separate sheets. I would really appreciate if one type of worksheets are available in one compact form, so that i don’t have to go through each worksheet separately.
E.g. all the reading comprehension worksheets by grade in one file pack.
It would be such help to make worksheet packs.
Thank you so much.

/ June 3, 2019Just wanted to send you a deserving shout-out for all of your hard work! Your resources are inclusive of the perfect balance between classics and “edutainment”.
Thanks for working tirelessly so all of us have it a bit easier at the end of the day.
P.S. Awesome connection to learners through the online games. They get hooked, and don’t even realize they’re learning! You nailed it.

/ November 21, 2017This website is great! The ideas and activities can be adapted up or down to accommodate different ability levels.

/ March 29, 2017I’ve been using your games in my classes. How many levels are there is Viewpoint Pilot and Orpheus, and what do the different treasures do in the Orpheus game?
Mr. Morton
/ April 6, 2017I love that you have been playing these games with your students.
There are 10 different levels in the View Point Pilot game.
In Orpheus, the different treasures allow the player to take more hits. They also enhance the player in various ways: The first upgrade allows his attack to bounce off walls. The second allows the player to double jump. The third makes the player’s attack faster and stronger. The fourth allows the player to fly. The fifth adds an additional projectile when the player attacks that is effective for “dive-bombing” enemies or creating a shield if the player is firing from a fixed position.
Thanks for playing!

/ February 4, 2017I purchased a point of view packet from teachers pay teachers. It contains links that direct me to this sight, but unfortunately, the links don’t take me to the correct worksheet. Mr. Morton
/ December 6, 2016I should make some resources. You are right. I never got around to it because these concepts were not tested with my students. One unfortunate side-effect of high-stakes testing is that concepts that are not tested tend not to get taught.

/ August 8, 2013This website is the best one that I have found. I sing it’s praises to my co-workers (who are now as hooked as I am). I love that it provides help to strengthen my student’s weaknesses. I also use the various options to re-test standards that weren’t mastered during the first exposure to the skill. Thank you for making my life so much easier.
Mr. Morton
/ September 28, 2013Thank you for spreading the word. I am continuing to add and refine content and I hope that these changes and additions will make the site even better. Best wishes!

/ February 28, 2013On INFERENCES 1 – #8,9,10 – the content is very inappropriate for sixth graders.
I use your worksheets and find the site very helpful, but the story about Ruby needs to be changed.
Mr. Morton
/ March 3, 2013The worksheet in question has a warning clearly marked and emboldened. There is also an alternate version that is more appropriate for younger students. This website is used by elementary school students to adult language learners and not every activity is appropriate for every level. You should read, understand, and approve of ANY content (not just on this website) prior to distributing it to your students. If you disapprove of some of my content, feel free to use the RTF files to edit out disagreeable material. Thank you for visiting.

/ July 25, 2024There was a short story that I used for Plot Development that was wonderful! However, it did have a part about a game that the kids were playing called Death Wars VI. I was really surprised that this was in the story. We continued on with the story because we were halfway through, and I liked the rest of the story for plot development. But you might consider taking this out, or simply changing the name of the game. I don’t think that this is appropriate for any age to be reading about a game with such title.
Mr. Morton
/ August 29, 2024I’m sorry that was an issue for you. Please feel free to edit the content as necessary using the .RTF formatted files. Best wishes!

/ November 12, 2012I use your ereading examples quite frequently in the classroom, and they are wonderful! / May 30, 2012What an amazing site. This is a reading teacher’s Mecca. Thanks for all your hard work. It shows that you are a passionate teacher.
I did want to point out a couple of things I noticed that need attention:
1.) The ‘Nutrition Facts’ answer page returns a ‘page not found’ error when you click on the link from the Reading Comprehension Worksheets page.
2.) The Story Structure Lesson 2 PowerPoint file references the lesson 1 file with no lesson 2 file to be found.
Thanks again for sharing such a wonderful site,
Eric

/ February 23, 2012Dear Mr. Morton,
I teach English in a CIE School in India. Since my students come from vernacular background, I found it difficult to train them to comment on style and language of fiction and nonfiction texts. This website helped me a lot in introducing the required key terms with short and quick practice worksheets.
Thank you very much.

/ February 14, 2012I used your Making Inferences 1 with my sixth grade class. One of the examples was about marital infidelity….obviously inappropriate. Otherwise, I have found your site to be very useful!
Mr. Morton

/ March 9, 2012If you’re talking about the Ruby passage, I agree it’s inappropriate. My 4th grader brought that home last week for hw and obviously didn’t understand it. I was shocked when I read it and emailed the teacher who assured me it went out by mistake. I Googled it just to see where it came from and here I am. This site looks very useful, but this one needs to be deleted. I would hate to see a teacher get in trouble for sending something like that home before reading it fully.

/ February 14, 2012Your website is so amazing. My fifth graders love your lessons/powerpoints and they really learn from them. Will you be adding new things? If so, is there anything I can monitor what is added without reviewing each category???

/ March 5, 2011Can you identify the general age group/grade level for which the various areas (reading worksheets, genres, figurative language etc) are designed? Or at least the youngest to oldest?
Mr. Morton
/ March 5, 2011I’d love to create some kind of grade/skill level index. Thank you for the suggestion and I plan on implementing this in the future. Currently, however, I created these assignments for my 7th and 8th grade students. I’d recommend these resources were used for students in grades 6-12, but with the editable .rtf files, I encourage people to modify them to fit their needs (i.e. remove or simplify challenging vocabulary). Thanks again for visiting and taking the time to comment.
